Tue, 12 Mar, 2024

What’s your role and what does a typical day for you entail?

In my role as HR Manager, I am responsible for engaging with our global team and supporting our people to be their best. This includes helping them with their professional development, training and supporting their needs. I also run the global payroll and assist with internal communication and change management relating to new policies and procedures.

What’s it like working at IDR?

IDR is very much a people business, we’re one global team, working towards one goal. I like being part of such a diverse yet tight-knit group of people and empowering them to do well and really thrive in their careers. IDR is a fast-paced and dynamic business, with challenge and change being some of our core values. No day is ever the same in our people team, which I see as a positive because it presents an abundance of opportunities to learn new things and grow personally and professionally.

What’s your background and how has your career evolved?

I am a multi-skilled HR professional, with over 16 years of experience spanning HR administration, payroll management, recruitment and training in a variety of sectors.  Over the course of my career, my role has evolved from providing tactical administrative support with tasks like filling talent gaps or handling employee relations issues to a more strategic people management mandate, working closely with leadership and driving workplace culture.

Rapid advancements in technology have also played a big role in changing the HR landscape and how we manage the hiring lifecycle process. I’ve found it’s been important to grasp new technologies and apply them to meet business needs.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

To venture outside my comfort zone. This has really shaped my career at IDR. I’ve been very happy with the results of that decision in terms of both my professional growth and also supporting our global team to grow and develop.

What’s a moment or experience that’s had a big impact on who you are today?

There’s no one big moment, more many smaller moments where colleagues both within and outside of work that have affirmed the positive impact and difference that HR has had for them Our careers occupy a central part of our lives so when people remember how my work in HR has contributed to this, it makes me feel proud that I’ve been able to improve the lives of the people I work with.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside work, I love quad biking and spending time with my wife and son (my 9-year-old buddy!). You’ll generally find us whizzing around the town on our e-scooter during weekends.
