"It is not just about personal accomplishments but also what we can create and achieve by using the whole team's talents"
Meet our IDR Team – Leonie Viljoen
What’s your role?
I am the Product Owner/Business Analyst for Tax at IDR. I define the development and evolution of our Tax Service offering based on analysis of the private equity markets, regulatory and customer requirements.
This includes mapping out the minimum viable product, leading the SCRUM, prioritising the backlog, helping to shape the final outcome with the development teams and overseeing development stages.
What is it like to work at IDR?
When you work at IDR, you get to work on multiple aspects of an innovation. All of these aspects have the same end-goal of simplifying a particular solution. You see your ideas through from conceptualisation and development to release and eventual adoption. As such, you aren’t just an employee, you are the custodian of the user experience.
What’s your background?
I am a modern magician, except I transform complicated technical ideas into user-friendly tax solutions. I have been working my magic in the financial services sector for the past 20 years and implemented a range of tax solutions (IT3 reporting, Provisional Tax IT3a/IRP5, Digital correspondence, Tax compliance tracker and FATCA CRS reporting).
I earned a Nedbank Group Finance Formal Award in 2018 and Old Mutual Project team player award in 2020.
My educational background includes a B. Com degree in Management and a B. Com Hons degree in Business Management. I am a Certified Microsoft Systems Engineer and completed my Web development and design certification through Dimension Data.
What’s been your biggest accomplishment at IDR so far?
IDR is characterised by being innovative, disruptive, and creating additional value. I was and am still amazed how much teamwork and team spirit can accomplish. Here it is not just about personal accomplishments but also what we can create and achieve by using the whole team’s talents. It is an amazing journey and it makes me proud to be part of IDR.
What is the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time on the beach and hiking in the mountains.
